Issue 9 by Suzanne O’Haire: A selection of artists have been invited to produce work for a single sheet publication. A 3/4 is an A4 booklet paying homage to the great Art & Project Bulletins that were produced between 1968 and 1989 to accompany their exhibitions in Amsterdam.

60 issues produced, each with a hand written formula on the back (in pencil). Each is ISBN so original works in their own right. Printed on 170gsm paper.

2021

ABC Artists’ Books Cooperative invited interested and interesting friends, and even frienemies, to contribute to this superb project. Each participant supplied a Certificate of Authenticity (CoA) but with the CoA itself being the artefact. In other words, each document referenced itself. You are advised not to dwell on this conundrum for too long in the interests of your own mental health. Initiator: Micheál O'Connell.

60 loose sheets, A4, 80gsm, non-archival paper and not printed at full-bleed. (Note that ABCOA is produced and shipped in the low-tech spirit or the mail art tradition. The standard envelope may become marked or slightly tattered in transit, and that is seen as part of the project’s charm.)

"It is never an intention for my drawings to be seen... until now that is. It’s the process of how I figure it all out, activating a dialogue through which things come to a fore, link together, mean something, say something. These drawings dealt with a ritual of collecting [lost] hair-grips (which informed a piece shown in Towner’s East Sussex Open 2014). Whether a couple of hours, large-scale, on a flattened cardboard box or a brief ballpoint sketch on a till receipt, they all matter. For me, drawing cross-examines, plans, visualises and, most importantly, keeps my mind filtered and ticking over."
